Video auditions
Submission dates TBA

Preliminary video auditions are required for all levels and categories.
Videos must be submitted via YouTube URL links in the Registration Form.
Videos can be recorded within nine months prior to March 20th, 2021.
The adjudication committee will evaluate video submissions.
Applicants will be informed of the jury’s decision no later than TBA.

£ TBC per person for duet and ensembles categories

Time Limits

Each performance time limit is determined by the level entered.
Pianist will be stopped once the time limit is exceeded.

Elementary A: up to 6 minutes
Elementary B:  up to 8 minutes

Intermediate A: up to 10 minutes
Intermediate B: up to 12 minutes

Advanced A: up to 14 minutes
Advanced B: up to 16 minutes

Repertoire requirements

Solo category

– Two original contrasting piano works of different musical eras.
– Elementary level pianists may perform pieces of the same time period in contrasting characters.
– Several works, e.g. Chopin’s Preludes, are allowed within the time limit.
– May include works by the featured composers
– Memorisation is not required.

Duet category

– One piece for one piano/four hands.
– Original compositions, arrangements, and transcriptions are accepted.
– Several works by the same composer are allowed within the time limit.
– May include works by the featured composers
– Memorisation is not required.

Ensemble category – TBC

– One piece for one piano/six hands, one piano/eight hands, two pianos/four hands, two pianos/six hands, or two pianos/eight hands.
– Original compositions, arrangements, and transcriptions are all acceptable.
– Several works by the same composer are allowed within the time limit.
– May include works by the featured composers
– Memorisation is not required.

Concerto category – TBC

– Any movement of a piano concerto. 
– No accompaniment is required for the preliminary audition videos. 
– If playing a movement other than the first or without cadenza, your recording should include a significant portion of the piece to demonstrate musicality and virtuosity. 
– May include works by the featured composers
– Memorisation for the exposition and cadenza is required. 

Contemporary composers category

– One original piano composition written after 1930.
– Several works, e.g. Kabalevsky’s Preludes, are allowed within time limit.
– May include works by the featured composers
– Memorisation is not required.
